Biographical Sketch

Dr. YB Chong graduated from University of Malaya (UM) in 2002 (passed with distinction, gold medalist for MBBS 2002). He subsequently obtained his postgraduate MRCP (UK) in 2006. He then joined University Malaya as a lecturer in 2007, underwent his Nephrology training and qualified as a Nephrologist after Board Certification in 2009. He then pursued his advanced nephrology training in Queen Mary Hospital, University of Hong Kong in 2010, specialising in glomerulonephritis. He continued his career in UM after his Advanced training, and was promoted as Associate Professor of Medicine in 2013. In 2014, Dr. Chong joined KPJ Damansara Specialist Hospital as resident Consultant Nephrologist and Physician.

Education and Fellowship:

He is currently fellow of Royal College of Edinburgh (RCPE), Nephrology Fellow of Asian Pacific Society of Nephrology (APSN) and member of Royal Colleges of Physicians of United Kingdom (MRCP UK), American Society of Nephrology (ASN) and Academy of Medicine Malaysia (AM). Besides, he is also a board certified specialist (Physician and Nephrologist) under National Specialist Registry, Malaysia.

Specialty Interests:

He specializes in kidneys diseases in particular glomerulonephritis and lupus nephritis, acute and chronic kidney diseases, haemodialysis and peritoneal dialysis treatment, as well as the care of kidney transplant patients.

Research and Publications:

He has received numerous academic awards and prizes during his undergraduate and postgraduate training, including the T.J. Danaraj Award, Silver Medal of King Edward VII College of Medicine, Gold Medal of Dr. S.G. Rajahram Memorial Prize, MSN Young Investigator Award First Prize 2009, World Congress of Nephrology Fellowship 2009 and APSN Training Fellowship Award 2010. During his academic career in UM, he involved actively in research, and has participated in numerous international clinical trials and published several papers in ISI-cited journal.
