Dr Mohd Shamsul Amri bin Ismail graduated from Bangalore University in 1997 and he later served in Ministry of Health Malaysia. He joined Master in Internal Medicine Programme in Universiti Kebangasaan Malaysia (UKM) in 2002 and successfully graduated in 2006.
Education and Fellowship:
He was a specialist in the Department of Medicine, Hospital Selayang until he was accepted into the Fellowship Program in Hepatology at Hospital Selayang from 2008 until 2011. He is also trained in various Gastroenterology procedures such Upper and Lower Endoscopy Procedures including in the management of Variceal Bleeding, Peptic Ulcer Bleeding and also in managing Colonic Polyps.
As a Hepatologist, he is trained in the management of acute liver failure from various causes, Management of Complicated Chronic Viral Hepatitis, Management of Autoimmune Hepatitis and other complex Liver diseases. He is competent in treating patient with Liver Cirrhosis and its complications. During his stint in Hospital Selayang he was involved in the assessment and selection of patients for Liver Transplant.
Research and Publications:
He has presented his research findings both locally and internationally. He has won various prizes in free paper presentations during Liver update meetings and he has also presented his research findings in the Asian Pacific Association for the study of the Liver (APASL) meetings in 2010 and 2012 at Beijing and Taipei respectively. He is also actively involved in clinical trials of various Liver diseases during his stay in Hospital Selayang. He is also one of the co-author for a topic in a book on interesting Liver cases published by Malaysian Liver Foundation [MLF) and he has also contributed articles for MyHealth online portal organized by Ministry of Health Malaysia.
He is currently an executive committee member of MLF.
