Procedures Egg Retrieval
A normal woman’s body typically ripens one egg per month. In order to ripen more eggs in a month so that more eggs can be retrieved, she takes a course of pills and hormone injections. Egg Retrieval is a manual procedure whereby the eggs are retrieved by the doctor. In this 15-minute procedure, the patient is put to sleep under general anesthesia before a needle is passed through to the ovaries via the vagina, guided by ultrasound. The eggs are held within fluid sacs and are removed using gentle suction using a needle. The retrieved eggs can be frozen and stored for future use, or immediately fertilized (IVF) to create an embryo. The embryo will be grown in our laboratory and subsequently transferred into the uterus via the Embryo Transfer Procedure, or it can also be frozen and stored for future use.
Egg Freezing & Storage
Eggs can be frozen for future use. This procedure is important to women who wish to conceive in the future but are going for treatment such as chemo or radiation therapy that will damage their eggs, or those who wish to have baby later in their lives so that they can focus on career or other personal goals. As personal goals .As a women advance in age,she will find it hard to get pregnant, and there are also higher chances of miscarriage or congenital defects. Frozen eggs from a healthier and more fertile stage In a woman’s life will improve her chances of conceiving a healthy baby. Our Specialists will share their findings on the quality of the frozen eggs and offer consultation and advice on how to best use this precious treasure. For those who are wondering, the goal of this procedure is to ensure that the chances of conceiving from a frozen egg is the same whether the egg is thawed one month or one decade later.
Intrauterine Insemination (IUI)
The goal of IUI is to increase the chance of fertilization by increasing the number of sperm that reach the Fallopian tubes. The woman is monitored for ovulation and when she is most fertile, sperm are placed through the vagina into the uterus via a thin, soft tube. Ultrasound scans will be used to determine the most suitable day to do the procedure.
In Vitro Fertilization (IVF)
In Vitro Fertilization or IVF is the process of fertilization by manually combining an egg and sperm in a laboratory dish, and then transferring the embryo to the uterus. The embryo can also be frozen for future use.
Intracytoplasmic Sperm Injection (ICSI)
ICSI is a procedure whereby one selected sperm is injected directly into the egg for for fertilization using powerful microscopes. This procedure is indicated when the male partner has extremely poor quality of number of sperms.
This is a quick, easy and pain—free procedure whereby the embryo is placed into the woman’s uterus via a soft tube. An ultrasound machine is used for this procedure, and both the doctor as well as patient can watch as the embryo is deposited. From here on, the patient should carry herself as a newly pregnant woman should. Our specialists will provide advice on how to take care of herself. A pregnancy test will be taken 11-13 days after the embryo transfer.
Pre-implantation Genetic Diagnosis / Pre-implantation Genetic Screening (PGD/PGS)
This is a set of tests that are performed on an embryo (before it is implanted into the mother’s womb) to detect genetic disorders and the sex of the baby. These tests make it possible to ‘select’ an embryo that is healthy,or even allow for choosing an embryo matching a sibling in HLA type in order to be a donor. Blood and saliva from the mother are taken to identify genetic and chromosomal risks.
